A new floor and more!

Just a quick walk down memory lane before I reveal the the "new" old bathroom.






There were two layers of tile that we peeled off. We used an iron to soften the glue and a long handled scraper to pull them up.

Then we repaired the holes in the sheet rock. (By we, I mean hubby), and I removed all the wallpaper and the mastic from the floor

Hubby painted the walls and installed a fancy new light fixture that's also an exhaust fan. He spent a day in the attic in sweltering heat installing it, bless his heart.



Oh and I can't leave out the tub.
Remember how it looked before?
I still have more paint to scrape off, but it looks much better now.






We found corrugated plastic sheets at Home Depot and bought one to cover the window over the tub. It's sealed all around with silicone. It's a temporary fix and we don't know how it will hold up, but it looks better than the window.







Finally, we put down the tile. Looks great for 40 bucks, doesn't it? I hope it holds up. The box says it's not guaranteed on cement floors so we're hoping for the best. Real tile would have been nice, but it's just not in the budget and it's not our home. We're just taking care of it for a while.

Then the new potty went in.
It's an American Standard Cadet 3 from Home Depot.
$139 and it works great.
It came with the wax ring and the seat.












Next was the vanity and for a final touch, we chose a vinyl cove base molding. We think it looks great.
