Mulch makes every garden look better. We got 10 bags of pine bark mulch at Wally World for only 25.00. We figured it was okay to use because its far away from the house.

ReplyDeleteThose are the cicada bug with the wings and its exoskeleton that it crawled out of...we have plenty of those here in Texas...and that earlier bug is a stink bug...how do I know all this you may ask? Because I regularly give those bug's relatives the stink eye myself! 8-)
Thank you Crystal for the entymology lesson! There are horrible black flies everywhere too making a mess on the windshields. Blech! And something called love bugs? Grrrr.
DeleteAhhh, thanks to a hurricane several years ago (perhaps Katrina), those good ole south Alabama love bugs were blown north to the Montgomery area and now we have to deal with them at this time of year! I've been told one of the best ways to get them off the front of your car is to put an unopened can of Coca-Cola outside till good and warm and then pour over the bugs and then wash them off (probably have to scrub a little).

Wait till you meet the annoying kudzu bug!!! Might want to look 'em up so you will know about them.
Oh lovely. I can't wait! Everyone keeps telling me how much I'm gong to love winter here, but if these creepy crawlies start coming out everywhere, I don't know! Better get more bug spray.
DeleteDon't worry about the cicadas, they won't cause you any harm. My kids used to go around the yard and collect empty cicada shells. Yeah, they're weird. :)
ReplyDeleteLove bugs... don't let them stay on your vehicles too long, they can damage the paint. They don't bite or anything but they are a nuisance.
Your garden is lovely! Your new sago looks very happy there. Love the elephant ear that seems to be shining in the sunlight.
My husband has a beautiful little white Honda and there was some crap on the roof of it. He went to clean it off and it left yellow stains that he cannot get out. He tried everything. He thought it was from parking it under our live oak, but maybe it's from those bugs? He is not happy.
DeleteCould be sap from the live oak trees. I don't think pollen would leave stains but sap would leave a residue. We use witch hazel to get sticky pine tree sap off of kids' feet, that might work for cars w/o damaging it (of course, research first!) It's super cheap in any pharmacy.
